Maui launches "Rubi", the cutting of the Rndrill by the hands of Baixada Fluminense.

Directly from Duque de Caxias, RJ, the artist consolidates a new cycle with his first EP.
The need to present a more complete work after the boom of “Pega as Suas Coisas” (2022) spurred Maui, a child from Rio de Janeiro’s Baixada Fluminense, to go further. The artist is preparing to release his first EP, “Rubi”, in January 2023. The work packs the public into a weekend in Parada Angélica, the artist's native neighborhood, and brings together precious participation in its 4 tracks, such as Big Bllakk , Aphrodite BXD, Enigma, Taleko, Chxd' and CL MADE THE BEAT.

Motivated by the maturation of his trajectory by joining a consolidated record label, such as DeckDisc, Maui honed his artistic persona to take a new step as a singer on the rise.

With a sound trailed by RnDrill and Afrobeat, “Rubi” highlights what is best for the ears – intensity, brightness and sensuality. And delving into the representation of this stone as a differentiated jewel, which stands out as an extraordinary type of sapphire, Maui differentiates the phonographic production of his EP in the current independent scene with the presence of a saxophonist, High Tuco, climax point for the message musical from “Rubi, Pt. two".

Lyrically, Maui is inspired by the jewels that surround him in the place where he comes from, and brings in the story of “Rubi” the value of standing out before the system, and also before our own environment. The artist dissected the meaning of the precious stones to represent his way of life.

“There are many good and valuable people. Everyone who is from the community seeks to have a dignified life, wants to live well, and manages to overcome even with all the challenges that the system imposes on us. These people are already jewels, they are like sapphires; but there are some people who do
things in such a unique, passionate way that they stand out, just like the ruby,” he says.
In addition to the creative polishing, Maui also had a precious team to execute and deliver “Rubi”. Produced by ANTCONSTANTINO and Taleko, the EP also unfolds one of the tracks, “Absurda”, in a video clip that portrays the women who live in Parada Angélica, and the dances that take place in the neighborhood.
